ATCHISON, Kan., March 23, 2017—MGP now offers Non-GMO Project Verified grain neutral spirits (GNS) in its portfolio of premium distilled spirits, which consists of vodkas, gins, bourbons and whiskeys.

According to David Whitmer, corporate director of quality and alcohol research, development and innovation, the verification process started over a year ago when MGP initially established its Non-GMO corn sourcing program. “We further refined and tightened our process for acquiring Non-GMO corn to meet the Non-GMO Project Verified criteria,” Whitmer said. “Along with this effort, we worked closely with our other suppliers to assure a complete Non-GMO ingredient supply chain,” he added.

Additionally, as one of the steps in the process, MGP’s Lawrenceburg, Ind., distillery underwent a successful audit, enabling the company to effectively demonstrate how Non-GMO integrity can be maintained from the time corn is received to the loading of Non-GMO GNS.

MGP’s Non-GMO Project Verified grain neutral spirits are produced in compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard. Achieving this verification assures customers who require non-GMO products that MGP follows stringent best practices for GMO avoidance.  The Non-GMO Project, a non-profit organization, offers North America’s only third party verification and labeling for non-GMO products. They currently verify products from more than 2,500 brands, representing $16 Billion in annual sales.
