Operations: MGP is a leading producer of ingredients and distillery products. Ingredients primarily consist of specialty wheat proteins and starches for food and non-food applications. The production of distillery products principally focuses on food grade alcohol. The Company also produces distillers feed and a minimal amount of fuel grade alcohol as co-products of its manufacturing processes.
Through extensive research in protein and starch chemistry, MGP has expanded the depth and scope of its business in recent decades. The Company's scientists focus their expertise on developing highly functional ingredients that provide substantial benefits and advantages to customers and ultimately to the consumer. These include a host of wheat-based and other plant-derived specialty proteins and starches created for use in multiple food systems, and bio-based resin materials that provide eco-friendly alternatives to petroleum-based plastics.
MGP's food grade alcohol is produced for beverage and industrial applications. The Company's beverage alcohol consists primarily of world class vodka, gins, bourbon and whiskeys and is sold in bulk form. Food grade industrial alcohol is sold for use in multiple applications, including vinegar, flavorings, hand sanitizers, oral antiseptics, personal care products, pharmaceutical products and household cleaning solutions.
Facilities: MGP processes value-added protein and starch ingredients, premium beverage alcohol and high quality food grade industrial alcohol at its headquarters in Atchison, Kansas, and premium beverage alcohol at its facility in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The Company also owns a facility in Onaga, Kansas for the manufacturing of plant-based bioplastic resins and wood-plastic composites. In addition, MGP markets beverage and food grade industrial alcohol produced through a joint venture operation in Pekin, Illinois, called Illinois Corn Processing, LLC (ICP).
